Cristian Boscheri will present P L E A S E R, a solo dance-comedy performance that unpacks the quirks and consequences of people-pleasing. Blending humor and movement, P L E A S E R explores how the need to please shapes both our personal lives and society in surprising and thought-provoking ways.

In Between Lines

It’s becoming more and more common: a “breakdance performance” being staged at schools, in the city, or in the neighborhood. Super cool! Both the audience and the dancers get hyped. Everyone is buzzing with excitement over the cool moves, tricks, and flips on display. Backflips, headspins, handstands, jumps, spins—you name it. We’re all here for it.

But this is not what Breaking is. For their new dance performance, “In Between Lines”, UC CREW explores the commercialization of Breaking. A dance style that emerged in the 1970s in New York and remains a key element of hip-hop culture. While Breaking has gained global popularity, its essence and the lifestyle that comes with it have increasingly been overshadowed by a focus on spectacular moves and entertainment.
