040Grounds is an event designed for dancers who are new to battles and looking to connect with the dance community in a low-pressure environment. Whether you’re stepping into your first battle or just want to experience the energy of a dance jam, this is your space to explore, learn, and grow.
At 040Grounds, the focus is on accessibility and connection. This special edition at Urban Dansdagen is a stepping stone battle for national and international dancers (14+), where participants can gain battle experience in a supportive setting. Alongside the battle, there will be a dance jam, allowing dancers to move freely, exchange ideas, and build confidence on the floor. To help newcomers understand the battle scene, the event also includes a q&a session with the judges and judge demos, offering insight and inspiration from experienced dancers.

Want to register? Head over to the NewDance app and create a free account. Find all programmes under the festival Urban Dansdagen, click on the festival and pick the programme you want to join. Fill in your details and you’re all set! At the festival, simply check in at the venue and join the fun. Just so you know: on top of your registration, you’ll need a day or weekend ticket. So make sure you’ve got one sorted.

For many, the world of dance battles can seem intimidating. 040Grounds lowers the barrier, making it easier for dancers to step in, try out battling, and connect with others who share the same passion. It’s a space where you can develop your skills, gain confidence, and feel part of the dance community.
The event features three battle categories: Freestyle, Clubstyles, and Funkstyles. Dancers will go head-to-head in 1vs1 battles, competing for the Top 3 spots in each category: 1st Place, 2nd Place, and 3rd Place.
Expect a welcoming atmosphere with judges, a host, and a DJ, all bringing their expertise and energy to the day. Whether you’re here to compete, learn, or just vibe, 040Grounds is the place to be.
